Savannah / Historic Savannah
James Oglethorpe certainly never imagined 21st-century Savannah, Georgia, but he left behind a brilliant plan. I’ve lived in the Historic District for 24 years and have seen many remarkable changes over this time, but the one constant is how beautiful this area remains. This vibrant, walkable area hosts well over ten million tourists a year, along with students, full- and part-time residents, and the businesses that support them, all while retaining the charm and residential personality of America’s Thirteenth Colony. It is bordered to the south by Forsyth Park, Savannah’s ultimate gathering spot, which hosts festivals, concerts, athletics, and a Saturday morning farmers market. The northern border is the Savannah River and River Street, the tourist area that never seems to sleep.
